A corrective journey

Noah has four sisters and one Mom. The boy is surrounded by women. Even the dog is a bitch. I took him to Rodos for the weekend to prepare the boat for the summer. Just the two of us. A corrective journey.

The minute I told him we were flying out the following weekend, he immediately declared we should start packing right away. My answer was that we should be leaving the house at 4 a.m. to catch the flight. I will wake him up 10 minutes prior so we can both pack and be on our way. The boy seemed dazzled. The evening before, he asked excitedly what hotel we would be staying at. When I told him I booked nothing and that we would land and figure it out, he genuinely looked worried. This trip was growing to be more important than I initially anticipated.

A few hours after we landed, the boy looked at me worried and said we should start looking for presents for all the girls back home as we only got three days, an attempt to buy a few things along the way and put the issue to rest, failed. I looked him in the eye and said there would be no more presents for anyone and that if we bought anything at all, it would be experiences. And the more, the better.

The boy accepted the verdict with grace but went to sleep worried. In the morning, he confided to me that he had been wracking his brain all night but could not come up with any experience to buy. I took the little angel to the window and showed him the red ATV awaiting us in the parking lot below (Instead of the boring rented car we came with). The boy started bouncing around ecstatically. From that moment on he got the drift of it, and we went on a new experiences acquisition spree. We had done it all. Even an anchor tattoo on the shoulder wasn't beyond our reach...

We did a great job on the boat and left her like a bride on her wedding night, all shining and ready to go. Noah discovered a new male universe simple as can be, scant in detail, devoid of excessive communications, and loaded with adventure. The boy had certainly seen the light...

Not bad for one weekend in July.
