Optinoid

Once upon a time in the West, I was interviewed by a local paper named the San Jose mercury. The reporter asked me if I was optimistic. Kind of a stupid question to ask when interviewing a CEO of a startup company ie, someone selling optimism to raise money.

I answered that I am an Optinoid, and no wonder he did not know what I was talking about; I invented it right there and then. To his question, I explained that an Optinoid is a paranoid who knows that the road ahead is fraught with danger and yet remains utterly optimistic, knowing deep inside, he (and the company he is leading) cannot be touched.

Net optimism will have you eaten alive.

Net paranoia makes it impossible to come out of bed in the morning.

Got to blend the two...
